Manpower has dramatically reduced in the nowadays, especially for new generation of the young people. For CNC machining field, due to the requirement and the standard from customer, the workpiece final products has been considered very strict compare to the past, therefore the quality of the manpower has been increasing.
In the CNC turning field, it is difficult to deal with the material such as aluminum, stainless steel, Tritium chips, because its characteristic of the flurry chips, it bothers the programmer very much.
CNC turn/mill lathe has greatly expanded in recent years, it includes trandional C/X/Z axis machining application with live tools, but it cannot satisfy job shops because the complexity, precision and cost for machining workpiece is getting higher, for that reason, Y axis CNC turning center is being consider as the standard and mainstream in the field. Job shops can reach higher requirement with Y axis and live tools, with Y axis, it can perform cross milling, drilling, tapping, curved surface, and pocket. The cycle time will be enormously reduced and the precision will be much better than C/X/Z axis machining.
When use CNC mill-turn lathe, there are two mounting options for live tool holders, VDI(Verein Deutscher Ingenieure) or BMT(Base Mount Tool).
